SADC Success Stories Volume 1

frayintermedia was contracted to undertake a digital marketing campaign on behalf of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). This initial project was a short-term contract to publicize SADC Success Stories with a specific focus on promoting its video content on social media platforms.

frayintermedia used a variety of video formats to test their appeal to viewers. The formats included video, hand-drawn cartoon animation, combined text, and video, and animated infographics. Videos were supported with paid promotions on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.

SADC Success Stories Volume 2

The second volume of the SADC Success Stories sought to build on the success of the original and outperformed all expectations. frayintermedia was contracted by SADC to produce 9 written stories with high-quality photographs, and 9 videos for publishing on social media. Each piece of content had very specific criteria – it had to link SADC’s Regional Integration efforts to tangible benefits in the lives of SADC’s citizens, and had to be published in English, French, and Portuguese.

The stories covered issues ranging from infrastructure development to peacekeeping, to the Blue Economy. The final version of the Blue Economy story focusses on SADC’s call for the region to align themselves to a blue future, but the team worked on earlier drafts of the story which looked initially at MCS initiatives put in place by the Benguela Current Commission off the coasts of Angola, Namibia, and South Africa, and later at the SADC Regional Fisheries Monitoring Centre, funded by the African Development Bank.

GIZ found the rates to be higly competitive compared to other providers in the market
