Re-establishing Digital Media Africa for the World Association of Newspapers
Once a year on each continent, The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) hosts a Digital Media conference and regional Digital Media Awards.
The event cultivates a critical discussion about innovations in news publishing and honours the best innovators in the field.
But they had a challenge in terms of traction.
Until recently their African events had struggled to find a foothold, with 2017’s event being cancelled due to limited sign-ons.
WAN-IFRA needed a new driving force behind their event, so they selected frayintermedia as the first global partner to manage the events externally.
We oversaw all the logistics going into the event, communicated with the delegates, designed trophies, managing the event audio-visual needs and printing all branding.
Guests came from across Africa and speakers flew into Johannesburg from varied destinations including England and Sweden.
The conference took place on the 23rd of November, 2018, with the awards that night.
frayintermedia managed the event which was highly successful, featuring in multiple publications and heavily documented on social media.
WAN-IFRA hailed the event as a great success.
